The new Road to Independence campaign begins with a series of limited, scripted objectives that will guide you through some of the basic concepts of the game, from fighting off a Native raiding party at the start, to waging battles on the campaign map, to using ships to move your land units around obstacles. Despite the numerous additions to the series/ to the game pecificly, Total War veterans will feel right at home here, and t he numerous tool tips and tutorial messages will explain how the new elements of Empire fit within the existing scheme. Now trade is handled through the development of trading posts that let you buy improved facilities that produce the goods you need for trade.

Trade has been simplified now so you won't be marching merchants all around the map. In this game you get to play many factions such as the the British, French, Native Americans ect. This game has succeeded in creating an immensely engaging experience that captures the grand strategies and battlefield tactics of the 18th century.

Creative Assembly's Total War is one of the most compelling historical strategy series in the PC cataloge. Gameplay: Ever since I first learned about Empire: Total War it was on my list of games to get. This game is a great edition to the total war series. In addition to a complete installation of the game, the limited Special Forces Edition of Empire: Total War includes a campaign map, an art book, and in-game access to six additional units. Empire: Total War is built with a new graphics engine that creates dynamic seas and weather, as well as the series' most detailed battlefield landscapes to date. A wide selection of realistic naval maneuvers are supported by the game, including cannon battles and the boarding of enemy ships, which allows players to command the sailors on deck as they fight desperately for control. Players command single ships or entire fleets at sea, through context-sensitive mouse clicks. Along with new, era-authentic weapons and fighting styles, Empire: Total War introduces naval combat to the 3D real-time battles. When the military forces of two nations collide, the battle is won and lost in a flowing, real-time mode, more similar to Age of Empires, in which both the forces under the players command and those of the enemy move and attack at the same time, across 3D battlefields. Overall strategies for the nation's defense and expansion are planned and executed in a turn-based campaign mode, not unlike Sid Meier's Civilization, in which icons on a map represent cities and armies. In the style of earlier games in the series, Empire: Total War is played on two levels. Untold riches await in new trade routes to the east, and untouched lands to the west lay ready for colonization. The game is set in the 1700s, when technological advances and tall ships empower nations to travel the globe.
